Ministry at Resurrection Anglican Church in 2018
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ
Praise God who is building his church and providing it with every good thing to serve him.
I am writing to let you all know some of what will be happening in terms of the ministry leadership in Resurrection Anglican Church over the coming months.
My final Sunday with you will be the 28th of January. I will be commissioned as the Rector of St Alban's Church, Highgate at 7pm on Friday 4th of February and you would be very welcome to be part of that service.
The Reverend John Symons will be the locum for the month of February.
The Reverend Dr David Secombe will begin as the mid-long term locum on 1 March. David has been a guest preacher at Lockridge in the past and is an experienced pastor and gifted preacher. David will be in the parish three days a week.
At its last meeting the parish council appointed Paul Bartley as a ministry worker. This role will be formalised once David Secombe has commenced in March. Paul has now completed his theology degree at Trinity Theological College and is continuing in the priestly formation programme for the Diocese of Perth. As part of his training, Paul has been placed at the parish of Dianella for 12 hours a week, so he won't be with you most Sundays.
I am very thankful to God that he has provided such godly men to love and build up his church.
The church wardens (Michael and Tanneya) together with the parish council will take the lead in working with the diocese to discern who it is that God is calling to be the next full-time minister in this Parish. This process could take between 12 and 18 months but may be finalised sooner than that. The first step will be that Bishop Jeremy James will meet with the parish council in February and then with the church community as a whole to consult with you about the kind of ministry and minister you are seeking to lead this church.
Keep praying for each other and for Resurrection Church that you will trust God and patiently wait on him and his perfect plan and timing. Pray that God will raise up a man after his own heart to be your next minister and that he will clear away any obstacles to that appointment. I will be praying that you will all continue to grow in your knowledge and love of Jesus and that you will love each other and the people of this community. I will be praying that you never stop being excited about the good news of Jesus and that you will boldly proclaim his gospel friends, family and neighbours.
...ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. (Ephesians 1:15-23)
God be with you,
